Empty Bowls Demo
At the TACA Craft Fairs, held twice yearly, fair patrons are invited to take part in the Empty Bowl activity, creating a clay pot which will later be fired and added to the LifeWorks Bowl Bank, to be used in Empty Bowls projects across the sate. Creating a bowl by hand helps to provide a lasting effect on both awareness and the fight against hunger in Middle Tennessee. The state is currently ranked 10th in the nation in hunger, and revenue raised through state-wide Empty Bowls projects go to organizations dedicated to alleviating hunger. TACA artists have been long-time supporters of the Empty Bowls project and greatly appreciate the opportunity it affords them to give back to their communities.
The Tennessee Association of Craft Artists
(TACA) will hold the TACA Tennessee Craft Fair May 7, 8 & 9 in
Nashville’s historic Centennial Park. The statewide
organization will welcome the Lost Boys Foundation of Nashville as
demonstrators during the 39th installment of the yearly celebration of
fine craft.
Visitors to the TACA Demonstration Tent will have an opportunity to
take part in discussions related to the methods and processes used in
creating the fine craft on display. Joining groups such as
the Tennessee Association of Woodturners and LifeWorks Empty Bowls
project, special guest the Lost Boys Foundation of Nashville will
reveal the techniques associated with their handbuilt clay pieces in
this educational component of the twice-yearly event.
Artists who have participated in the TACA/LifeWorks tent include:
Constance Beck - Weaving
Lolly Durant - Hand built clay / community bowl making project
Donna Rizzo - Wheel thrown clay, hand built alternations
Tennessee Association of Woodturners - Woodturning
