TACA CRAFT FAIR SERVES AS COLLECTION SITE FOR SECOND HARVEST FOOD BANK OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE DONATIONS
Annual event gathered more than 900 pounds of canned food

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Association of Craft Artists (TACA) partnered with Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee during the 39th Annual TACA Tennessee Craft Fair. The Nashville community and TACA artists worked together to collect 930 pounds of food, benefiting victims of the historic flooding in Nashville and the hungry in Middle Tennessee.

“TACA is proud to have provided the craft fair as a donation site for Second Harvest’s efforts,” said Elaine Wood, executive director of TACA. “The work they do on a day-to-day basis is remarkable. To see the way they mobilized in our city’s time of need, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to help.”

The 39th Annual TACA Tennessee Craft Fair was just one of many food drives going on last weekend. According to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee’s blog, other efforts included the Tennessee Renaissance Festival, collecting 1,625 pounds of food; a soccer tournament at Brentwood’s Crockett Park gathering more than 2,000 pounds; and Nashville’s annual Iroquois Steeplechase yielding 1,964 pounds of food.

“With only five days to get the word out about the food drive, we were excited to see what level of response our visitors and artists would present and they did not disappoint! This is truly a city of volunteers and those who attended the craft fair were no exception. The generosity of Nashville’s residents was on full display at our event.” Ms. Wood said.

The TACA Craft Fairs are produced by the Tennessee Association of Craft Artists (TACA), an independent, statewide nonprofit organization and recipient of the Tennessee Governor’s Award in the Arts. By maintaining high standards of excellence, the Tennessee Association of Craft Artists is appreciated for producing festivals representing the finest in American craftsmanship. We are proud to be a part of Celebrate Nashville, the #1 Craft Fair in Tennessee as designated by Harris List, and as one of the 200 Best List by the Sunshine Artist magazine.

Founded in 1965, TACA is a statewide, nonprofit organization dedicated to encouraging, developing and promoting crafts and craftspeople in Tennessee. Through the use of Craft Fairs, TACA works to expose the residents of Tennessee to the art of fine craft, while providing a forum for creative and personal expression for the artists.
